From Orient to Castell d’Alaro

From the hotel L´Hermitage we walk 200m on the road towards Alaro, until we reach path marked “Castell” at km 11,8. After the iron door the broad path leads through an olive grove uphill. Passing a junction turning to the right the path becomes nindicator.

There is a beautiful view of the valley of Orient. After 15 min we come to the steeper turning ascent to Pla n’es Pouet. After a holm oak forest reach a carriage road at the edgeof the plateau , which we turn to the right on. We come to a clearing At its left upper edge the path of stairs Cami de Castell Alaro leads to Castell d´Alaro.

From the Castell a broad path leads to Oratoria de Nostra Senyora del Refugi. Passing the Oratoria we reach the peak of Puig d´Alaro within a few minutes. Afterwards we descend from the chapel back to the castle.

At the junction a little below we follow the path towards “Alaro a peu” downhill. At first the path runs straight, then turns sharply to the right leading to Finca Es Verger. For returning to Orient, we take the carriage road to the left –hand side of the restaurant running up to Pla d´es Pouet. About 100 m above the finca the path runs into a forest and winds to the plateau uphill. There we cross the forest parking lot, pass the stone stairs and step back to the valley of Orient.
